Sreesanth, the name which can scare a lot of batsmen in the world not because of his bowling but because of his bowling through his mouth, is lucky to be in the Indian Side for the World Cup.
Praveen Kumar, the ODI specialist, had an injury which made him keep out of the World Cup and the not so 'Shant'(silent) Sreesanth was selected. No doubts, he is a good bowler but his economy rate in the one dayers is not so good. He can swing the ball both ways, can be a tough opponent to face on early in the innings but he give away a lot of runs which is in simple words 'unacceptable' at least in the World Cup. If Bangladeshis can thrash him, then what will the Proteas and the British do against him?
He is according to me a typical 'test match' bowler who should not be in the ODI squad. India have a very strong bench strength and there were many options but the selectors went with him. He was in good form but selectors should have seen his unimportant aggression and his poor economy rate. According to me India should have selected an all rounder who can bowl Medium Fast Bowling like Abhishek Nayar. Zaheer and Munaf with Bhajji and Piyush/Ashwin would have been supported nicely by an allrounder like A.Nayar.
Many say he should be in the team and many say he should not have been and till now he has proved that he should not have been in the team. The 'lucky' man continued with his on-field antics in the practice games and in the game against Bangladesh, he gave away a lot many runs which could affect India's NRR.
He is capable of silencing his critics and it would be great if he comes up with something extraordinary with the red ball. Not sure, if he gets a chance to play in the next games but whenever he gets, I hope his bowling will do all the talking.
